Thermoelectric power plants have priority in the power system of Macedonia. They provide 81% of the electricity production in AD ELEM. The largest thermal power plant is REK "Bitola" with its three blocks Bitola 1, 2 and 3, with an average annual net production of 4,200 GWh. Coal is used as a primary fuel for its production in REK "Bitola". REK "Oslomej" is also part of the thermal system in the Republic of Macedonia, with installed block capacity of the 125 MW and average annual net production of 500 GWh. Coal is also the primary fuel for its production and REK "Oslomej".

The total installed capacity of the hydro capacities is 553.6 MW, that is, 40% of the total capacities of AD ELEM. There are eight hydropower plants in AD ELEM, out of which two are flowing - "Raven" and "Vrben" and six accumulations - "Vrutok", "Shpilje", "Globocica", "Tikvesh", "Kozjak" and "Sveta Petka". Of the total electricity generation in AD ELEM, about 19% is provided by hydro production, primarily to meet the daily variations in the consumption of electricity and to provide system services for regulation, thus achieving greater flexibility and availability of the Power system

The turbines are manufactured by Siemens - Denmark and are among the best in their class. The installed power of each is 2.3 MW, the height of the pillar is 80 meters and the diameter of the elise is 93 meters. PVE "Bogdanci" is expected to deliver at least 100 GWh of naturally viable renewable energy annually. At the same time, the windmills will increase the installed capacity of AD ELEM by 36.8 MW. This project will also increase the share of renewable resources in the portfolio of AD ELEM and represents another strong indicator for the company's concern for the environment.
